CNY Reunion Dinner 2017 at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel KL

30th January 2017

As usual, our reunion dinner normally will be at hotel around KL. This year, I chose Shangri-La coz I want something different and special.

Thus, off we go to Shang's Palace. I booked through phone in advance, just in case to avoid fully book (surprisingly, not even half of the table occupied on that day).

Ambience: Nice although the table arrangement is quite near to one another.

Service: Good, waiter & waitress is attentive but not over friendly.

Taste-wise: Our family did not like it. If I have to rate, it will be 1/5. Sorry, not to our liking. Perhaps we should order the CNY combo instead of a-la-carte. Read about the dimsum here is quite good, will consider to re-visit for dimsum I guess.

On that day, we ordered:-

Chicken roll (Small) - RM28.30
2/5 - too sweet too our liking

Steam Western Garoupa - RM289.88
1/5 - not fresh at all

5 pieces of large tiger prawn with XO Sauce - RM240.15 (served individually on plate)
4/5 - The XO sauce save the dish

Scallop with asparagus - RM120.07
5/5 - Nice

Spicy chicken - RM30.02
2/5 - so so

Braised towfoo - RM32.59
5/5 - Nice

Yong Chow Fried Rice with Scallop - RM113.21
1/5 - salty and the lousiest fried rice I ever had in Chinese restaurant, sorry, need to be honest here.

Papaya avocado with vanilla ice cream - RM15.44
4/5 - quite refreshing

Mango Pudding - RM10.29
3/5 - average pudding

Red Bean - RM7.72
3/5 - bit bitter

Overall cost for 5 pax = RM 1,114.00

Complementary bag with 2 mandarins inside :)

Makan Best Mee Sup Tengkera, Melaka

Xin Nian Kuai Le Ta Jia!

It has been a while since I decided to blog again. With the emerging of social media such as Instragram, blogging is not suitable for LAZY people like me, haha.

By the way, wanna share one makan place located in Tengkera Melaka. Chang2 really like the soup here though I am not a big fan.

Their specialty is definitely a bowl of soup where you are given a choice to opt for yellow nooedle (mee kuning), mee hoon or kuetiaw.

We always opt for yellow noodle.

Warning: For spicy lover, there is no hot kicap or cili padi here as only a bottle of white pepper & salt served here, just in case if you want to adjust the taste.

For me, it is enough already though sometimes it can be a bit salty. Well, people preferences can be different though. Plus, I love simple & plain soup that is why some local actually named this dish with Mee Sup Bodoh as taste-wise, it is quite plain.

To compliment our noodle is a glass of Air Mata Kucing . A refreshing taste especially to cover up the Malacca heat.

They are also offering popiah (I tried the fried version) just in case you are not a soup lover, I did not have the pic here but ok ok only in terms of taste, not the best popiah in town I must say but very fulfilling if you eat it.

So, if you are in Malacca and was looking for something simple, you can try Mee Sup Tengkera.

Mee Sup Tengkera
No 440B, Jalan Tengkera
75200 Melaka, Malaysia

Operating hours: from 2pm onwards and closed on Thursday (based on tips left in 4square)

Landmark - in front of the fruits stall, nearby Methodist Girls School) or just Waze Mi Sup Tengkera
